Fernhill College in Farnborough faced the common challenge of engaging a generation of “media‑savvy” students raised on games, the internet and TV. The school wanted to take lesson planning to the next level by creating more interactive, immersive classes that could compete with modern digital media.

The solution was to install SMART Board interactive whiteboards and use SMART Notebook software, enabling teachers (notably Richard McFahn) to build reusable, multimedia-rich lessons—images, video clips, web content and drag‑and‑drop activities—that pupils can interact with as a group. The result was more engaging, two‑way lessons, reduced prep time through saved resources, wider staff adoption with training, and noticeably more lively, participation-driven learning.
