A SMART Technologies Case Study
Montgomery County Community College (MCCC), a two-campus institution serving about 30,000 credit and noncredit students with an average age of 27, wanted to diversify teaching methods and create more flexible, multimodal learning environments. Driven largely by faculty demand, the college deployed nearly 110 SMART Board interactive whiteboards and related interactive technologies across classrooms over five years to better support varied learning styles and increase instructional flexibility.
By equipping smart classrooms with SMART Boards, SMART Podium, SMART Notebook software and integrated peripherals—and linking campuses via videoconference—instructors can present prepared problems, capture and post lessons, and have remote and in-person students interact in real time. The result has been more streamlined, engaging instruction, improved student understanding and flexibility for working learners, continued faculty adoption, and ongoing investment in expanded SMART technologies.
