Case Study: University of Nottingham achieves improved interactive teaching and student engagement with SMART Technologies

A SMART Technologies Case Study

Preview of the University of Nottingham Case Study

Educating tomorrow's teachers

The University of Nottingham, a campus of more than 33,000 students, needed to modernize and standardize interactive teaching across multiple campuses and room sizes while reducing waste and equipping future teachers with classroom-ready technology skills. With heavy use in the School of Education and ongoing investment in facilities, the challenge was to convince staff to adopt a common interactive solution that worked for everything from small seminars to 500-seat lecture theatres.

The university standardized on SMART Technologies—installing SMART Boards in appropriately sized rooms, using Sympodium pen displays in large lecture theatres and piloting AirLiner and SMART Meeting Pro—supported by an ePioneers programme, train-the-trainer courses and the Virtual Learning Lab. The result was easier adoption and support, more engaging lessons, measurable paper and cost savings, and students who leave better prepared to use the same technology on school placements.
