Case Study: RPVV Surajmal Vihar (Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, India) boosts student engagement and comprehension with SMART Technologies' SMART Board interactive whiteboards

Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya (RPVV), Surajmal Vihar, is a Delhi government secondary school that faced limited resources, low student engagement, and frequent absenteeism—challenges common in many government schools that made teaching abstract concepts and supporting absent students difficult. SMART Technologies partnered with the school in October 2011 to introduce interactive classroom tools and train teachers who had little prior exposure to digital educational technology.

SMART installed a SMART Board 280 in the CAL lab, trained teachers to build multimedia lessons, and gave them access to SMART Exchange and SMART Notebook resources; teachers now schedule CAL-room sessions, use videos, maps and interactive activities, and share lesson files on pen drives. Within months engagement, comprehension and participation improved, stationery costs dropped, lessons became more accessible to absent students, and SMART added two more boards and a second round of teacher training in response to the positive results.
