Delivering a true multi-media learning experience

Borders College, the region’s sole further-education provider with around 8,000 annual learners, opened a new Scottish Borders Campus and needed to equip multiple sites with an intuitive, future-proof interactive learning solution. Faced with the challenge of delivering a true multi‑media learning experience for diverse courses and room sizes, the college ran a competitive tender and chose technology staff and lecturers found easiest to adopt.

The college standardized on SMART Board interactive whiteboards paired with SMART Audio classroom amplification and implemented a train‑the‑trainer program for staff. The combined solution improved audibility and accessibility (including hearing‑loop support), enabled wireless mobility and multimedia content (used, for example, to demonstrate rugby tactics), increased engagement, and will be rolled out to the college’s other sites.
