Collaborative learning adds up to excellence in sixth-grade math

Euclid Middle School in Littleton, Colorado (800 students) wanted to use technology to improve sixth-grade math by supporting whole-class learning, visual representations and student collaboration. Teachers needed tools that would boost engagement and help students build conceptual understanding rather than just memorize procedures.

The school deployed SMART Board interactive whiteboards in every classroom and used SMART Notebook software and its Gallery to deliver visual, hands-on lessons. The result: more student-centered, collaborative math instruction, greater teacher collaboration and a shared library of lessons, with rising math scores and higher student engagement.
