Transport for West Midlands faced challenges managing the defined-use parking bays at Longbridge Railway Station, where heavy daily traffic and manual patrols made it hard to tell whether disabled and Save-a-Space bays were being used by authorised drivers. With no occupancy monitoring technology in place, they turned to Smart Parking for a smarter way to monitor the car park.

Smart Parking implemented its SmartPark system, installing sensors and SmartSpots in selected bays to send real-time occupancy data to SmartCloud and provide dashboard analytics. The solution gave Transport for West Midlands live visibility into parking activity, helped them track usage patterns for future planning, and supported enforcement when needed, with phase 1 data now informing possible wider deployment across the car park.
