Case Study: Westminster City Council achieves easier parking and reduced congestion with Smart Parking's SmartPark

A Smart Parking Case Study

Preview of the Westminster City Council Case Study

SmartPark is being used by the City of Westminster to make life easy for motorists

Westminster City Council faced heavy parking demand in the City of Westminster, where 500,000 vehicles enter the area each day but only 12,000 parking spaces are available. This mismatch meant drivers often spent time circling for spaces, contributing to congestion and poor air quality. Smart Parking’s SmartPark solution was introduced to help motorists find available bays more easily.

Smart Parking implemented over 2,400 in-ground sensors, linked to the SmartCloud platform and the ParkRight app, to provide real-time parking availability and GPS directions. The result was faster space-finding, reduced idling and congestion, better use of underused bays, and valuable data for future planning. Westminster City Council reported that the system now provides accurate, high-quality information that is incredibly valuable.
