Snowball, a Belgian cleantech hub, sought to become a CO2 neutral office building by finding a system to optimally coordinate its unique blend of renewable energy technologies, including an ice buffer for heating and cooling, solar panels, and a large storage battery. They needed a solution for dynamic load balancing and demand side management to avoid system overloads. They selected the Smappee Infinity energy management system to serve as the central platform for this challenge.

The Smappee solution provided complete monitoring and control over all energy flows, dynamically balancing supply and demand to prevent overloads, such as by smartly managing power to EV chargers. The system fully integrated all site facilities, including a 48-point charging plaza, into a single dashboard. As a result, Snowball achieved its goal of becoming a fully CO2 neutral building. Smappee's modular and flexible design also ensures the site's living lab can easily incorporate new technologies in the future.
