Electric Vehicle Parking at the Outlook Offices at Schiphol Just Got Smart

Royal Schiphol Group, through its Schiphol Real Estate division, faced a challenge at its Outlook office building: the existing electrical infrastructure could only support 17 electric vehicle charging stations, which was insufficient for the growing number of employee EVs. To address this without costly infrastructure upgrades, they partnered with Smappee, along with ENGIE and EVBox.

The solution implemented by Smappee and its partners utilized dynamic load balancing technology. Smappee Infinity smart chargers were installed to manage two strings of EVBox stations, intelligently distributing the available power to prevent overloads. This allowed Royal Schiphol Group to operate 40 charging points using infrastructure originally designed for only 17, achieving considerable cost savings by avoiding a full infrastructure upgrade and supporting their sustainability goals.
