Greater Indy Trailways unifies 800 miles of trails with SmallBox

Greater Indy Trailways, a regional trail network in Central Indiana, faced the challenge of unifying over 800 miles of trails under a single, trusted brand identity. The network needed to resonate with a diverse range of users and dozens of partner organizations while overcoming the critical barrier of inaccessible information that prevented people from using the trails. SmallBox was engaged to provide strategy, branding, and web services to address this complex problem.

SmallBox developed a comprehensive solution centered on community-driven research, which included a new name, logo, and brand guidelines. They created a system language guide to standardize trail information and designed a mobile-first website, TheTrailways.com, featuring an interactive map. The result was a unified brand experience that successfully represented the entire trail system, empowering local partners with consistent messaging and making trail access information readily available to the public.
