Mid-West Company, a large convenience store operator, was facing high energy costs and operational inefficiencies across multiple locations. They needed a cloud-based energy management platform to better understand where maintenance dollars should be spent and which stores needed attention most, so they turned to Small Box Energy and its chameleon™ platform.

Small Box Energy installed chameleon™ at one test location, using adaptive walk-in controllers, smart thermostats, lighting controls, and cloud-based monitoring to track energy use and alarms. Over the test period, the site reduced normalized consumption from 278,964 kWh pre-installation to 241,542 kWh post-installation, contributing to about $6,420 in annual savings, while also helping staff prevent food-safety issues and avoid costly equipment repairs.
