Family Dinning Restaurant, a franchisee operating east and west coast locations, was struggling with high energy consumption and utility bills exceeding $6,000. They turned to Small Box Energy for an energy management solution tailored to the needs of multiple locations in different climates, using the chameleon™ platform.

Small Box Energy installed chameleon™ in 12 locations, combining adaptive walk-in controllers, wireless thermostats and temperature sensors, lighting controls, and a web server for remote monitoring and adjustments. Over 90 days, the system delivered energy reductions at 9 of 12 sites, with all East Coast locations saving energy and West Coast locations averaging an 11% monthly reduction and $6,096 in annual savings; East Coast sites averaged a 10% monthly reduction and $13,572 in annual savings. The system also helped prevent food loss and avoid HVAC failures through early alerts and diagnostics, contributing to a total reported annual savings of $19,668.
