Pinger, a San Jose–based app developer behind Textfree, Doodle Buddy and other messaging apps with over 100 million downloads and 2.5 billion monthly impressions, needed a reliable, globally focused monetization partner to generate revenue from its free apps while supporting high-volume, multi-platform traffic. They required easy integration, personalized account management and effective ad formats to monetize predominantly US traffic.
Pinger opened inventory to Smaato’s Real Time Bidding (SMX) platform in 2012 and scaled from 90 to 390+ demand partners, while jointly optimizing price tiers and floors and using hands-on account management and data-driven guidance. The result: CPMs for key ad sizes (320x50, 300x250) met or exceeded expectations, daily revenue goals for US traffic (≈95% of inventory) were consistently achieved, and Smaato became Pinger’s Tier One monetization partner.
