Preview of the PepsiCo Case Study

PepsiCo covers 20% of plant energy with SMA Solar rooftop PV

PepsiCo, a leading global food and beverage company, sought to reduce power costs and manage energy price fluctuations at its Honduran bottling plant, aiming to improve competitiveness and environmental impact. To address this challenge, they worked with vendor SMA Solar Technology, utilizing their SMA Sunny Tripower inverters.

The solution implemented by SMA Solar was a 3 MW rooftop solar installation, the largest of its kind in Latin America at the time. The system, using 98 SMA Sunny Tripower 24000TL-US inverters, now covers approximately 20 percent of the plant's annual energy consumption through self-generation. This results in significant cost savings and a major reduction in carbon emissions, equivalent to the benefit of planting 4.7 million trees.
