API Plastics, a plastic molding company in Lebanon, faced high and unstable energy costs from the public grid, necessitating the use of expensive backup diesel generators to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for its operations. To counteract these costs, the company partnered with SMA Solar Technology to integrate a photovoltaic plant into its electricity grid.

SMA Solar implemented its Fuel Save Solution, a PV diesel hybrid system that optimized the consumption of solar energy to reduce reliance on both the public grid and generators. This solution stabilized the electricity network and resulted in substantial fuel savings for API Plastics, specifically reducing diesel consumption by approximately 70,000 liters per year.
