Case Study: Prynt brings printed photos to life with Slyce

A Slyce Case Study

Catchoom Helps Prynt Turn Augmented Reality for Print Photos Into a Wild Success

Prynt is a smartphone case that prints mini photos and a companion app that lets those prints “come alive” with short videos. To make printed photos interactive without visible markers, Prynt turned to Slyce for Image Recognition and Augmented Reality SDKs to reliably recognize images and trigger AR content.

Using Slyce’s SDKs, Prynt links each photo to a 6‑second video and can recognize prints in under half a second (online or on‑device), unlocking the video overlay without QR codes. The approach drove massive early demand—Prynt raised $1.6M on Kickstarter and hit its $50,000 goal in 30 minutes—and delivered higher user engagement (AR users proved noticeably “stickier”), while supporting cloud and offline use cases.
