Funeral Directors Life Insurance, a Texas-chartered insurer with more than $1.4 billion in assets selling pre-need policies nationwide, faced growing limits from its legacy actuarial system after a personnel change. Complex pre-need products that adjust benefits and face amounts over time required bespoke workarounds and a dedicated programmer, causing months-long vendor delays and missed market opportunities. To address this, Funeral Directors Life Insurance selected Slope’s modern, configurable actuarial platform.
Slope implemented a no-code, configurable actuarial solution that let Funeral Directors Life Insurance model product behavior directly, automate pricing functions, and use an integrated reporting and visualization suite. The change eliminated external add-ons and manual workarounds, enabled controlled stakeholder edits via a variable editor, and cut complex pricing runs from multiple days to about four hours—giving the company timely, trustworthy outputs and the ability to “set the market” rather than follow it.
