MonaLab GmbH, a laboratory focused on additive manufacturing in Austria, needed a more efficient way to produce tooling for technical hoses. Traditional extrusion tools were assembled from many small parts, making the process complex and limiting design freedom; MonaLab worked with SLM Solutions and its SLM® technology, including the SLM®280 and Additive.Designer®, to address this challenge.

SLM Solutions enabled MonaLab to produce a single-piece, additively manufactured extrusion tool in AlSi10Mg with integrated flow-optimized features such as static mixers, fins, a thermocouple mount, flange, and air feedthrough. The result was a reduced-assembly design that improved efficiency, tool properties, and production quality, while also allowing the 10 mm hose tool to meet high-pressure durability and long-life requirements.
