Case Study: Van Leeuwen Wheeler achieves 40% inventory reduction and improved forecasting with Slimstock

A Slimstock Case Study

Preview of the Van Leeuwen Wheeler Case Study

Van Leeuwen Wheeler reduces its inventory by 40%

Van Leeuwen Wheeler, a division of Van Leeuwen Pipe and Tube Group and the UK’s leading distributor of carbon and stainless steel pipes, needed to streamline inventory management and improve forecasting after a major investment program and shifts in customer demand during the recession. To tackle these challenges, Van Leeuwen Wheeler engaged Slimstock and deployed its Slim4 inventory optimisation and forecasting solution.

Slimstock implemented Slim4 to deliver greater visibility, dynamic forecasts, seasonality detection and obsolescence identification, while rationalising transport and internal stock movements. The outcome was up to a 40% reduction in inventory (exceeding the 25–30% target), more accurate forecasts, improved control over seasonality and obsolescence, and cost savings from fewer unnecessary trips.
