Ultra Finishing, a UK bathroom manufacturer with over 35 years’ experience and a member of the “Made in Britain” scheme, faced limited visibility across its distribution centre, reliance on cumbersome spreadsheets and a legacy ERP, and the need to forecast demand up to 12 months ahead to manage new product introductions and supplier relationships. To address these challenges the company partnered with Slimstock in 2014 and implemented Slimstock’s inventory optimisation solution, Slim4.
Slimstock’s Slim4 provided automated, granular forecasting, standardised inventory processes and tools to manage new product introduction and end‑of‑life sell‑through, combined with upskilling of Ultra Finishing’s supply chain team. The result was greater visibility, markedly increased supplier reliability, minimized risk of obsolescence, improved control of new product launches and better long‑range planning (supporting Ultra’s c.5–10% annual turnover growth), and Slim4 is now being rolled out across other parts of the business.
