Case Study: SPAR achieves 99.5% service level and higher stock turns with Slimstock's Slim4

Spar takes Control of Their Fresh Groceries

Spar, which supplies groceries to around 500 stores across the Netherlands, faced the challenge of maintaining high on‑shelf availability for a changing assortment (5,500 items with 1,000 fresh and 500 frozen) while reducing waste and improving stock turns. To tackle this, Spar engaged Slimstock and implemented their Slim4 inventory‑optimisation solution, integrating it with the existing DistRetail ERP and centralising its planning teams.

Slimstock’s Slim4 provided daily demand forecasting for perishables, EOQ‑based ordering support and tighter planners’ workflows, enabling Spar to focus its five planners on exceptions and supplier/logistics agreements. As a result, Spar now consistently achieves service levels in excess of 99.5%, has increased stock turns and reduced working capital and waste, with further gains expected when forecast data from Slim4 is shared with suppliers.
