NewCakes releases over 800,000 euros of extra cash through reducing stock

NewCakes, a Dutch retailer and wholesaler of baking products with over 5,000 SKUs and eleven stores, was struggling with cramped warehouses and high safety stock after several years of rapid growth because their Mamut ERP did not provide clear demand and seasonal insights. To address excess inventory and unpredictable demand, NewCakes engaged Slimstock and deployed its inventory optimisation solution, Slim4.

Slimstock implemented Slim4 quickly and integrated it with NewCakes’ Mamut ERP, using management-by-exception and economic order quantity functionality to reveal seasonal patterns and adjust inventory parameters. As a result, Slimstock helped NewCakes reduce inventory by about 40%, release over 800,000 euros in cash, postpone a warehouse move for at least ten years, cut manual work and improve supplier collaboration.
