Boom is a leading wholesaler of laboratory products serving customers across the Netherlands and Belgium. As turnover and assortment grew (over 70,000 SKUs), inventory had become difficult to manage: Microsoft Dynamics NAV offered limited forecasting tools, leading to high obsolescence, frequent errors and backorders. To address this, Boom engaged Slimstock and implemented their inventory optimisation solution, Slim4.
Slimstock’s Slim4 was rolled out in 2016 and within a year delivered clear results: overall service levels for stocked items rose from 68% to 92%, A‑item service stabilized at 96%, and backorders fell by 85%, while surplus stock and obsolescence dropped sharply. Slimstock also provided training through the Slimstock Academy, enabling Boom’s buyers and planners to run monthly proactive reviews and enrich Slim4 with price and expiry data for ongoing optimisation.
