Case Study: Fabory, a multinational fastener wholesaler, achieves 98% service levels and more decisive inventory management with Slimstock's Slim4

A Slimstock Case Study

Preview of the Fabory Case Study

Fabory increases their service levels to 98%

FABORY is a multinational wholesaler of fasteners (60,000 items in its central DC and up to 125,000 SKUs company-wide) that sells small volumes of highly varied items down to single pieces. Managing this broad, low‑volume range with eight planners proved difficult using customised SAP tools that lacked inventory transparency and tied planners up in routine tasks; FABORY implemented Slimstock’s Slim4 inventory management system in 2009 to address these challenges and lift service levels (then 96%).

Slimstock deployed Slim4 as a bolt‑on to SAP, providing automated forecasting, “management by exception” workflows and clearer inventory visibility. As a result — within weeks — FABORY’s planners were freed to focus on exceptions and supply‑chain improvements, service level rose to 98%, the system revealed €6.5M of stock with a theoretical >€4M saving, and inventory management became more decisive, improving the company’s ability to fulfil demand.
