xWATER Service Eliminates Disposal of 7.4 Million Gallons by Using 100% Produced Water

SLB worked with Williston Basin Based Operating Company to address the high cost and complexity of reusing produced water in Bakken fracturing operations. The customer wanted to avoid expensive treatment or heavy freshwater dilution while managing high TDS, hardness, boron, and variable water quality in produced water.

SLB implemented its xWATER integrated water-flexible fracturing fluid delivery service, designing a fluid specifically for 100% produced water instead of treating the water itself. The solution enabled 65 stages with 7.4 million gallons of produced water, zero freshwater use, and no screenouts or disposal, while delivering production equal to or better than comparable freshwater wells and saving about 650 tanker truck trips per well.
