WIReD Release Devices Enable Using Wireline Perforating to Save USD 1.3 Million, North Sea

SLB worked with North Sea Operating Company, which needed to perforate a long interval in a highly deviated North Sea well while managing the risks of a very heavy gun string. Conventional wireline was considered difficult for a single-run deployment, but coiled tubing would have been much more expensive.

SLB recommended the MaxPull 26000 high-pull wireline conveyance system with multiple WIReD inline release devices, enabling a single-run wireline perforating operation with controlled release redundancy and strong shock tolerance. The approach reduced operational exposure by about USD 1.3 million by avoiding coiled tubing, improving setup and deployment efficiency, and lowering the risk of cable or equipment loss in the well.
