Wintershall Norway Perforates Interval Using Wireless Selective Electronic Firing Head
Wintershall Dea AG wanted real-time, accurate drillstem test data during perforating and DST operations in Norway, with continuous bottomhole pressure visibility to support well monitoring, optimize test duration, and improve underbalance before firing the perforating guns. SLB provided the Symphony live downhole reservoir testing solution with a wireless selective electronic firing head and Measure wireless quartz gauges, connected by Muzic wireless telemetry.
SLB enabled the perforating guns to be activated quickly and reliably using acoustic firing commands instead of pressure pulse activation, while real-time downhole pressure data confirmed optimal underbalance and gun firing. The operation achieved the industry’s first postperforating activation through wireless telemetry, validated multiple perforating operations, and improved decision-making through continuous bidirectional communication and pressure monitoring.
