Case Study: West Texas Operating Company improves completion planning with SLB's slim cased-hole logging solution

A SLB Case Study

West Texas Operating Company - Customer Case Study

SLB worked with West Texas Operating Company, which needed to understand rock-property variability along a 4.5-in horizontal drilled-but-uncompleted well without delaying the drilling schedule. The challenge was to evaluate reservoir quality and completion quality in a cased lateral, where conventional logging would have required redeploying a rig.

SLB deployed the slim Pulsar multifunction spectroscopy service and ThruBit Dipole through-the-bit acoustic service together in a single rigless tractor-conveyed logging run. The combined dataset provided detailed lithology, clay volume, mineralogy, and anisotropic mechanical properties, allowing the operator to confidently design the completion and assess stress and reservoir variability along the lateral without impacting the drilling schedule.
