WellWatcher Neon System Meets Strict Pressure Requirements for Italian UGS Wells

SLB worked with a leading natural gas company facing the challenge of increasing underground gas storage capacity and pressure while still meeting strict Italian legal requirements for downhole pressure levels in UGS wells. The company also needed to maintain safe operations and meet peak gas demand, which required highly reliable continuous monitoring of pressure and temperature.

SLB implemented the WellWatcher Neon DTS, DAS, and PT gauge system, along with the WellWatcher Quartz premium high-temperature, high-resolution PT gauge, to provide distributed temperature sensing, single-point pressure and temperature measurements, and built-in metrology redundancy. The solution maximized gas storage capacity while meeting legal pressure limits, improved confidence in reservoir monitoring and safety, and led the operator to order 11 additional WellWatcher Neon systems for its UGS wells.
