SLB worked with an independent operating company developing a remote onshore oil field in Nigeria that needed to monitor a three-zone intelligent completion without permanent power, heavy infrastructure, or drawing attention to the wellsite. The company had been relying on infrequent manual data retrieval, which was costly, risky, and too slow to warn managers of downhole issues in time.

SLB deployed the WellWatcher Connect wellsite data transmission system as a compact, self-powered solution with solar panels and secure satellite communication to automatically collect and send data to the operator’s office in Lagos. This reduced wellsite visits from six to two per year, cut HSE exposure, and saved about USD 7,000 to 9,000 per trip, for annual savings of USD 28,000 to 36,000, while improving back-allocation accuracy and reservoir management.
