Water-Alternating-Gas Saturation Monitoring in a Single Cased Hole Logging Run Abu Dhabi

SLB worked with a large oil drilling service provider in Abu Dhabi that needed to efficiently monitor water and gas saturations across varied carbonate reservoirs to optimize water-alternating-gas injection cycles. The challenge was to accurately distinguish gas-filled porosity from liquid-filled porosity and tight zones in a cased injector well with both casing and tubing in place.

SLB deployed the Pulsar multifunction spectroscopy service, including the FNXS measurement, to deliver a single-run cased-hole formation evaluation with full petrophysical volumetric interpretation. The result was reliable quantification of gas, water, and oil saturations in one logging run, confirming a known gas zone, identifying a previously undetected gas accumulation, and correcting a tight-limestone misinterpretation for faster, more accurate monitoring of injection cycles.
