SLB worked with Gazprom Neft on deepwater exploration wells in Vietnam, where the customer needed to reduce tripping time and improve drilling efficiency. The challenge was especially significant in the Nam Con Son basin, where two wells had similar designs but very different formations, making it difficult to optimize operations based on prior experience alone.
SLB used the OptiWell well construction performance service to analyze historical and near-real-time well data, define key operational KPIs, and improve drilling and tripping practices. As a result, Gazprom Neft reduced marine riser tripping time by 14% and on-slip time by 13%, while completing the well within the planned days.
