Turbomill Scale Removal Enables Ecopetrol to Access Two Formations in Colombia

Ecopetrol needed to remove heavy scale buildup that was restricting production in a Colombia well and preventing access to the Mirador and Barco formations. SLB addressed the problem with a Neyrfor TTT thru-tubing turbomill run on 2-in coiled tubing, using two-phase fluid to clean out the production liner.

SLB’s solution removed scale from 858 ft of 4½-in liner to total depth in 5.25 hours at an average rate of 163.43 ft/h. The operation reduced torque on the coiled tubing, minimized hydrochloric acid usage to 60 bbl versus 300 bbl in the prior attempt, and restored access to both producing formations.
