TuffTRAC Tractor Reverse Tractors 3,850 ft To Retrieve Perforating String, North Sea

SLB worked with CNR International to complete a selective perforating intervention in a North Sea high-angle well, but the operation became a recovery job when erratic tension and poor correlation prevented completion and the cable reached its safe working load limit. The challenge was to retrieve the perforating toolstring without overstressing the wireline.

SLB used the TuffTRAC cased hole services tractor with reverse tractoring and active traction control to directly apply overpull to the gun string. This avoided a fishing operation and allowed the perforating toolstring to be retrieved safely, with a total of 3,850 ft reverse tractored over three runs despite adverse well conditions.
