TuffTRAC Tractor Pushes Stuck Plug to Save USD 300,000 in High-H2S and -CO2 Well

Talisman Malaysia Limited Offshore Well Company faced a stuck plug in an offshore well with an extreme sour environment of 45-ppm H2S and 45% CO2. The plug had been pushed on braided line but stopped at 2,754 m because of the well inclination, leaving the company needing a way to continue moving it to the intended plugback depth. SLB provided the TuffTRAC cased hole services tractor to address the challenge.

SLB used the TuffTRAC tractor, with tool-planner modeling to configure the force and drive sections needed for the well conditions, and then tractored the plug 799 m down the inclined section to 3,553 m. The operation restored the well to production and avoided the need to mobilize a coiled tubing rig, saving Talisman Malaysia Limited Offshore Well Company USD 300,000.
