A SLB Case Study
SLB helped Offshore Sakhalin Island Operating Company tackle a demanding production logging job in a geosteered offshore well with an 8,000-m measured depth and a 3,200-m toe section reaching up to 94° inclination. Conventional tractors could not sustain enough head tension to carry the Flow Scanner production logging toolstring past 7,200 m, so the operator needed a more powerful conveyance method to collect critical reservoir data.
SLB deployed a six-drive, 12-wheeled TuffTRAC iX extreme-performance wireline tractor configuration after validating performance in a full system integration test. The toolstring was conveyed to total depth in both shut-in and flowing conditions, achieving a complete production log in 21 hours, about half the usual time, with an estimated 100% efficiency gain and about USD 330,000 in rig-time savings.
