Preview of the Total E&P Angola Case Study

Total E&P Angola Saves More Than USD 100 Million and Gains an Estimated 1,000,000 BOE of Incremental Production

SLB worked with Total E&P Angola to optimize completion of stacked deepwater reservoirs offshore Angola. The challenge was managing commingled production from multiple layers with an incompatible oil-bearing zone, a water-bearing zone, and the risk of early water breakthrough while keeping well count and costs down.

SLB used its OptiPac openhole Alternate Path gravel-pack service with OSMP OptiPac service mechanical packers to provide zonal isolation and future water shutoff capability. The solution delivered complete gravel packs, reduced the planned well count in field A from eight to six, saved more than USD 100 million, and is expected to add about 1,000,000 BOE of incremental production in field B.
