Preview of the Mississippian Operating Company Case Study

ThruBit Services and UltraTRAC Tractor-Conveyed Imaging Save 24 h and USD 40,000 per Well

SLB worked with Mississippian Operating Company, an operator moving from exploration to appraisal in the Mississippian Lime play, to improve logging efficiency in 3,500-ft horizontal sections without sacrificing data quality. The company needed high-quality logs for formation evaluation and completion optimization, but conventional drillpipe-conveyed logging took more than 48 hours of rig time per well.

SLB addressed the challenge by running ThruBit quad-combo logging services first, followed by the FMI fullbore formation microimager conveyed on the UltraTRAC all-terrain wireline tractor. This approach delivered density, neutron, resistivity, sonic, and image data in only 24 hours across three wells, cutting logging time by about half and saving Mississippian Operating Company USD 40,000 per well in rig costs.
