Symmetry platform supports DCP Midstream’s vision of a smart gas plant network to increase operating margins and improve asset decision making

DCP Midstream LLC, a Fortune 500 midstream company operating gas plants and pipeline infrastructure across the US, needed to optimize the performance of its gas plant network. Its existing process simulator lacked critical capabilities such as cryogenic gas plant modeling, multiphase pipeline modeling, acid gas treating, and sulfur recovery, so it turned to SLB’s Symmetry process software platform to support both operational optimization and its vision for a smart gas plant network.

SLB deployed the Symmetry platform, converted more than 100 legacy models, and completed user training in less than 60 days with minimal disruption. SLB also integrated the platform with streaming operational data, market prices, and financial systems, enabling DCP Midstream to build 36 real-time digital models of gas plants. The result was real-time insight for engineers, improved operating margins, and better decision making across the network.
