SureLOC 12000 Release Reduces Fishing Frequency in HPHT Reservoirs, Gulf of Thailand

SLB worked with Gulf of Thailand Operating Company to address frequent tool-sticking in the HPHT reservoirs of the Gulf of Thailand, where wireline operations were often complicated by unreliable release systems and the risk of fishing operations. The company needed a way to improve release performance without relying on tandem mechanical weakpoints that limited pulling capability.

SLB implemented the SureLOC 12000 electronically controlled cable release device, replacing the older combination of a mechanical weakpoint and conventional ECRD. The new solution provided reliable release even at 1,000 lbf tool head tension, improved pulling capability at surface, and significantly reduced wireline fishing operations, allowing longer and heavier toolstrings to be run and full logging data sets to be acquired more efficiently.
