SRC Energy Drills 12 Wells With 1.17 Average Runs per Well, DJ Basin

SRC Energy needed to drill the vertical, curve, and lateral sections of a pad in Weld County, Colorado as quickly and as efficiently as possible, while maintaining high wellbore quality. SLB proposed using the NeoSteer CL curve and lateral at-bit steerable system, instead of the conventional BHA and rotary steerable setup the operator had used on prior wells.

Using SLB’s NeoSteer CL ABSS with HIA capability and Smith Bits cutting elements, SRC Energy drilled 12 wells with an average of 1.17 runs per well. The system increased rate of penetration by 20%, eliminated survey time on the pad, and helped the operator drill the four fastest wells in program history while saving as much as 20.8 hours on a single well.
