SIMplus Retrievable Bridge Plug Installs Reliable Barrier for Sealing Tubing Leak

SLB worked with Well Offshore Operating Company, an offshore operator in Venezuela, to diagnose and fix a suspected leak between a subsurface safety valve and the production tree in a space-constrained offshore platform environment. The company needed a precise way to locate the leak and perform the intervention using slickline rather than conventional methods.

Using SLB’s LIVE digital slickline services, including LIVE PL digital slickline production logging and a 7-in SIMplus retrievable bridge plug from Peak Well Systems, SLB pinpointed the leak, installed a retrievable barrier, and applied sealing fluid. The well was pressure-tested successfully, the leak was confirmed sealed, and production was restored to nearly 85 MMcf/d of gas, with the plug later retrieved successfully despite debris in the well.
