Case Study: North Sea Operating Company achieves efficient perforation of a 900-ft interval with SLB XR-Perf and UltraTRAC

Preview of the North Sea Operating Company Case Study

Significant rig time saved using the XR-Perf system with UltraTRAC tractor and WIReD release device to run longer gun strings without defaulting to alternative conveyance

SLB worked with North Sea Operating Company, a North Sea operator that needed to perforate a cumulative 900 ft of noncontinuous intervals in a complex-geometry well. The company wanted to improve perforation efficiency while reducing risk in a tortuous, highly inclined well where coiled tubing could buckle and tubing-conveyed perforating would be slower and more costly.

SLB addressed the challenge by using the XR-Perf expanded-range wireline perforating system with the UltraTRAC all-terrain tractor and the WIReD inline release device. This enabled extreme-length gun strings and added stuck-gun recovery protection, allowing the operation to be completed in just six tractor-powered runs, including record-length strings of up to 170 ft of loaded guns, and significantly reducing lost-in-hole risk while saving rig time.
