Seismic Reservoir Reevaluation Helps Vietgazprom Identify Seven New Prospects Offshore Vietnam

SLB worked with Gazprom Neft on a seismic reservoir reevaluation project for complex offshore gas-condensate fields in Vietnam. The customer needed to delineate reservoir potential in thinly laminated, laterally variable interbedded silts and shales with weak seismic response, subseismic intervals, and limited well data.

SLB reinterpreted existing 2D and 3D seismic and well data using advanced petrotechnical workflows including seismic inversion, AVO and rock physics analysis, sequence stratigraphy, and integrated geological modeling. The study identified seven new economically viable drilling prospects, recommended ranked exploratory well locations, and helped the operator drill a top-ranked location that tested commercial gas, improving confidence in the updated drilling plan.
