SCREEN PULSE Separator Reduces Water Content in Cuttings and Drilling Waste, Saves USD 13,500 per Well

SLB worked with Field Onshore Operating Company, Consorcio Shushufindi in onshore Ecuador, to address a challenge with very high fluid content in drill cuttings that was increasing mud losses, waste volume, and disposal trips during drilling operations. The company needed to reduce mud on cuttings to improve mud recovery and lower final disposal costs.

SLB recommended and installed the SCREEN PULSE fluid and cuttings separator on multiple wells to reduce mud on cuttings and improve fluid recovery. The solution cut water content in cuttings by 14%–25%, reduced drilling waste volume by 15%–29%, lowered total waste handling costs by 12%–26%, and saved about USD 13,500 per well, including major reductions in transportation and cuttings-drying costs.
