SCREEN PULSE Separator Reduces MOC by 28% and Saves 10% on Final Waste Disposal Volume

SLB worked with an onshore well production company drilling in Argentina’s Neuquen basin to improve fluid recovery and cuttings dryness in an oil-base mud (OBM) drilling operation. The company’s challenge was to reduce OBM retention on drilled cuttings and lower the large waste volumes sent for third-party treatment.

SLB installed the SCREEN PULSE separator on the last shaker screen of three primary shakers as part of a three-step drying process. The trial delivered an average 28% mud-on-cuttings reduction, cut oil-on-cuttings volume to below 30%, reduced final waste disposal volume by 10%, and saved USD 48,720, with the system running more than 260 hours over 11 days with zero NPT.
