Saltel Xpandable AZIP Packers Pass Tight Spots to Enable Isolation for Efficient Acidizing in Iraq

SLB helped a leading oil producing company prepare to recomplete a carbonate well in the Bekhme Formation of Iraq’s Tawke Field after a limited coiled tubing acid wash delivered disappointing production. The operator needed to isolate two key segments for a more targeted acid stimulation, but high dogleg severity and wellbore restrictions meant conventional swell packers could not be used.

SLB recommended slim Saltel Xpandable AZIP annular zonal isolation packers, which were run through the tight sections and expanded in place. The packers provided the isolation needed for multistage acidizing, and both zones were stimulated at pressures up to 3,000 psi with pressure curves confirming robust isolation between segments.
