A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Saka Energi Indonesia to drill a highly deviated well in the East Java Basin targeting a fractured, vuggy carbonate reservoir. The company needed to optimize completion design while reducing risks of mud losses, stick/slip, and potential early water breakthrough from a nearby aquifer.
SLB deployed the MicroScope HD 475 resistivity- and imaging-while-drilling service, along with VISION 475 LWD and PowerDrive X6, to capture high-definition formation images while drilling. The data identified conductive fractures and vugs across about 1,873 ft of lateral section, allowing Saka Energi Indonesia to optimize ICD and packer placement, avoid an additional logging run, and reduce operational risk to the aquifer.
