Rolling Diamond Cutting Element Saves 2.6 Days and USD 123,000

PTTEP Onshore Drilling Operations was drilling an 8½-in section in onshore Thailand through hard, abrasive sandstone with interbedded shale. The team needed to reduce bit trips and improve rate of penetration, after an offset well using a conventional PDC bit drilled only a short interval with slow ROP and multiple trips. SLB provided the EnduroBlade 360 bit as the recommended solution.

Using SLB’s EnduroBlade 360 rolling diamond cutting element bit helped increase bit durability and boost average ROP by 20 ft/h. In one BHA, the bit drilled the longest interval in the field, and compared with the closest offset it saved 2.6 days of drilling time and USD 123,000.
